“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” Romans 10:9
What does it mean “to be saved?” Saved from what? “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Thus, if you have sinned, even once, even if you are a ‘good person,’ then you have to pay for that sin with your death - eternal separation from the Creator, Almighty God. So, have you sinned? The Bible tells us that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Thus, we are all facing God’s eternal wrath, even those of who are ‘good people.’
BUT!
“We shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him” (Romans 5:9, KJV). That ‘Him’ is Jesus! “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). That’s what Jesus’ sacrifice does. It replaces our sinfulness with Jesus’ perfect righteousness, making us righteous before God. Giving us a value above rubies. Here’s an acrostic using RUBY to show you how to go about being saved:
R - Repent (turn away from your sin)
U - Utter (verbally confess that Jesus is Lord)
B - Believe (trust Jesus’ sacrifice redeemed you)
Y - Yield (allow Jesus to take control of your life)
